Brief Biography of the speaker:
Ulrich Albrecht is Professor of Mathematics at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from New Mexico State University in 1982 and his Habilitation from the Universitat Duisburg in 1986. His research interests include module-theory, ring-theory and Abelian groups. He is particularly interested in properties of Abelian groups and modules which can be described in terms of their endomorphism rings. Through his work on endomorphism rings, he became interested in the theory of non-commutative localizations and its applications in the investigation of the structure of modules. Furthermore, he is interested in interdisciplinary research and Physics. From 2000 to 2002, Dr. Albrecht served as Chair of the Mathematics Department of Auburn University.
